{"id":198,"date":"2012-10-08T21:40:15","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T21:40:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helpus2helpthem.org\/?p=198"},"modified":"2012-10-08T21:40:15","modified_gmt":"2012-10-08T21:40:15","slug":"reunion-in-santo-domingo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/empoweringaction.org\/es\/reunion-in-santo-domingo\/","title":{"rendered":"Reunion in Santo Domingo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past week I had the opportunity to be reunited with friends from <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/cj3ercielo\" target=\"_blank\">Casa Juvenil Tercer Cielo<\/a> (\u201c3rd Heaven Youth Community Center\u201d), a ministry started by Damaso Marte, former MLB player and pitcher for the New York Yankees World Series Champions, to help children in urban poverty in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Damaso started investing in Santo Domingo after coming to know the Lord later in his professional baseball career. The focus of the ministry is to give children a place to escape, learn about the Lord and learn how to play music. Through ministering to the 150+ kids and teaching them how to play, they have ministered to the families in the area and seen the Lord truly impact these children\u2019s lives. As we look to the future, this is one of the ministries Dale Sutherland, Andy Manfredi and I are extremely excited to partner with, as individuals, such as yourself, step forward to helpus2helpthem.
