{"id":521,"date":"2012-09-26T02:07:31","date_gmt":"2012-09-26T02:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helpus2helpthem.org\/?p=188"},"modified":"2012-09-26T02:07:31","modified_gmt":"2012-09-26T02:07:31","slug":"188-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/empoweringaction.org\/es\/188-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Grief Growing To Action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year at this time I wrote a seminary paper on what the Old Testament says about the treatment of orphans, widows and the needy, entitled \u201cWhat Our Treatment of Them Says About Us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The foundational verse from the paper was Proverbs 29:7, which states, \u201cThe righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.\u201d \u00a0This verse makes clear that an individual\u2019s relationship to God is demonstrated in his attitude toward the needy.<\/p>\n<p>God\u2019s Word states that a \u201crighteous man\u201d will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u201cshare his food with the poor\u201d (Prov. 22:9)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201clend to the poor\u201d (Prov. 19:17)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201chelp the powerless\u201d (Job 26:2)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201csave the arm of the feeble\u201d (Job 26:2) <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201crefresh others with his generosity\u201d (Prov. 11:24-25)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201copen their arms to the poor\u201d (Prov. 31:20)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cextend their hands to the needy\u201d (Prov. 31:20)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Job, who was described as \u201cblameless and upright,\u201d noted, &#8220;Have I not wept for those in trouble?
